COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus blanked McDaniel 9-0 in
women's tennis play on Friday afternoon.
In singles play, senior Jenna Hope (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson)
defeated Brittany Starlings, 6-0, 6-0, at number one flight,
followed by a win at number two flight from sophomore Jimena Talavera (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) over Jamie Latham, 6-4,
6-2.
At number three flight, freshman Jessica Tyrrell (Shamong,
N.J./Seneca) defeated Sara Yost, 6-3, 6-4, with senior Leah Stambaugh (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) defeating Kristina Shavirov at
number four flight, 6-3, 6-4.
Freshman Deborah Choi (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) won her match
over Jessica Gelber at number five flight by injury default, while
freshman Caroline Lippe (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) defeated Becky
Putnam at number six flight, 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, Hope and junior Julia Kurtz (Spring City,
Pa./Owen J. Roberts) defeated Starlings and Shavirov, 8-1. At
number two flight, Talavera and Tyrrell defeated Yost and Latham,
8-3. Finally, senior Christina Lippe (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) and
freshman Jacquelyn Heikel (New Gretna, N.J./Pinelands Regional)
defeated Putnam and Gelber, 8-0.
Ursinus is now 7-10 and 3-7 in the Centennial.
