COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College softball team
swept its final Centennial doubleheader on Saturday, defeating
Muhlenberg 5-0 and 2-1.
In game one, senior pitcher Lauren Davis-Macedonia (Mullica
Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) pitched a one-hitter while striking
out 18.
Ursinus scored one run in the first as freshman first baseman
Allison Pfrommer (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional) scored on a
RBI single by freshman shortstop Kelli Jerdan (Philadelphia,
Pa./Archbishop Ryan).
In the fourth, freshman pinch runner Taylor Zelitsky (Wanaque,
N.J./Lakeland Regional) scored on a RBI single by junior third
baseman Kristen Gallagher (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) to
make the score 2-0.
In the fifth, Ursinus tacked on three runs as Pfrommer scored on
a RBI hit by freshman catcher Emeile McFarland (Sykesville,
Md./Century), followed by freshman pinch runner Kelsey Coyne
(Stowe, Pa./Pottsgrove) on a RBI triple by Jerdan.
Junior Jamie Miles (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) had a RBI single
scoring Jerdan for the final run of the inning.
In game two, Ursinus tied the score at 1-all in the third as
freshman center fielder Caitlin Higgins (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway
Regional) scored on a RBI single by sophomore second baseman Abby Sido (Hershey, Pa./Hershey).
Ursinus took the lead in the bottom of fourth as sophomore right
fielder Kelly Kalovcak (Pottsville, Pa./Minersville Area) scored on
a RBI single by sophomore third baseman Cassie Brown (Warminster,
Pa./Archbishop Wood).
Freshman pitcher Jennilyn Weber (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley)
got the win in game two, striking out eight and scattering four
hits.
