CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis
team was blanked by Dickinson on Monday afternoon 9-0 in Centennial
Conference play.
In singles competition, Alysia Rodgers defeated senior
Jenna Hope (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson), 7-5, 6-1 at
first flight, while Joelle Nitzberg defeated junior Julia
Kurtz (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) at second flight,
6-3, 6-0.
At number three flight, Sarah Woodward defeated sophomore
Jimena Talavera (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson),
6-1, 6-1, followed by a win from Leigh Oczkowski over freshman
Jessica Tyrrell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) at number
four flight, 7-5, 6-2.
At number five flight, Nora Hajnoczky defeated senior
Leah Stambaugh (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford), 6-1,
6-4, with Sarah Linder defeating freshman Chelsea Carman
(Novato, Calif./North Bay Marin School) at number six
flight, 6-1, 6-2.
At first doubles, Rodgers and Lindner defeated Hope and Kurtz,
8-6, with Nitzberg/Woodward defeating Talavera/Tyrrell, 8-6 at
number two flight
At number three doubles, Alex Bybel and Carla Cox defeated
freshman Caroline Lippe (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey)
and Carman, 8-3.
