BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis
team improved to 2-4 in Centennial play with a 7-2 win over Bryn
Mawr on Wednesday afternoon.
Ursinus swept all three doubles matches as senior Jenna
Hope (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson) and junior Julia
Kurtz (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) defeated Anna
Perocchi and Elizabeth Wiseman, 9-8, at number one flight. At
number two flight, sophomore Jimena Talavera (Rockville,
Md./Walter Johnson) and freshman Jessica Tyrrell
(Shamong, N.J./Seneca) defeated Elizabeth Ver Hoeve and
Leah Raj, 9-7.
Number three flight saw senior Christina Lippe
(Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) and freshman Chelsea
Carman (Novato, Calif./North Bay Marin School) defeat
Marianne Leung and Julia Jameson, 8-2.
In singles play, Perocchi defeated Hope, 6-1, 6-4, while Kurtz
defeated Wiseman, 6-0, 6-2. At number three flight, Talavera
defeated Raj, 6-4, 6-0.
Bryn Mawr's Melanie Shafer defeated Tyrrell at number four
flight, 6-1, 6-3, while senior Leah Stambaugh (Hanover,
Pa./New Oxford) defeated Elizabeth Olecki at number five
flight, 6-3, 6-3.
At number six flight, Carman defeated Jameson, 6-0, 6-0.
