COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College softball team was
no-hit in the consolation final of the 2010 Centennial Conference
Softball Championships on Sunday morning by Swarthmore, falling
1-0.
The Bears had only two base runners in the contest, but, had a
chance to tie the score in the seventh as sophomore second baseman
Abby Sido (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) reached base on an error and was
on second with no outs.
However, Ursinus' runner was caught stealing trying to
advance on an attempted sacrifice bunt.
Swarthmore scored its lone run as Kate Smayda singled home
second baseman Erin Curtis.
Senior Lauren Davis-Macedonia (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview
Regional) took the loss, as she struck out five and walked one.
Ursinus is now 28-7 and will await word of a possible at-large
bid to the NCAA tournament.
