Women's Tennis defeats F&M, 7-2

YORK, Pa. - In a match that was moved to York due to the weather, Ursinus got its first win in league play by defeating Franklin & Marshall 7-2.

The Bears swept all three doubles matches as senior Julia Kurtz (Spring City, Pa.) and sophomore Jessica Tyrrell (Shamong, N.J.) defeated Anya Sahaydachny and Danielle Weiner, 8-6. At number two flight, junior Jimena Talavera (Rockville, Md.) and freshman Heather McMasters (Wyoming, Del.) defeated Valeri Harteg and Shannon Littlefield, 8-5. Number three flight saw junior Dana McDonough (Collegeville, Pa.) and sophomore Jackie Heikel (New Gretna, N.J.) defeat Katherine Sutton and Meryl Schulman, 8-1.

In singles paly, Talavera defeated Harteg at number one flight, 7-5, 6-1, with Tyrrell defeating Littlefield at number four flight, 6-2, 6-4. Sophomore Caroline Lippe (Hummelstown, Pa.) defeated Chelsea Bush at number five flight, 6-0, 6-2, with McDonough finishing off the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sutton at number six flight. Ursinus is now 5-10, 1-7 in the Centennial.
