COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team closed the 2010-11 season with a 9-0 blanking of McDaniel to finish 7-10 and 3-7 in the Centennial Conference.

The Bears took both doubles matches contested, as the Green Terror did not field a third flight doubles team. At number one flight, the team of senior Julia Kurtz (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and sophomore Jessica Tyrrell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) defeated Brittany Starlings and Carissa Grove, 8-3, while the team of sophomore Jackie Heikel (New Gretna, N.J./Pinelands Regional) and junior Dana McDonough (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) defeated Devon Hamric and Sara Yost, 8-2.

In singles play, Kurtz defeated Starlings, 6-0, 6-4, at number one flight, while freshman Mara Berzins (Perkasie, Pa./Penn Ridge High School) defeated Grove, 6-2, 6-1 at number two flight. At number three flight, junior Jimena Talavera (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) defeated Hamric, 6-2, 6-1, with sophomore Caroline Lippe (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) defeated Yost, 8-1. Finally, McDonough defeated Elise O'Meara at number five flight, 8-1.
