Baseball falls in early hole to Del Val, drops 13-8 decision

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College baseball team fell behind 10-2 after three innings, before scoring six in the top of the ninth. However, the Bears (6-8) came up on the wrong end of a 13-8 decision to Delaware Valley (7-5) on Tuesday afternoon.

For the Bears, senior third baseman Joel Ackerman (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) finished with two doubles and a RBI, while freshman catcher Chris Menzies (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) and sophomore first baseman Jake Neiman (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) each had two RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Chris Ryder (Douglassville, Pa./Holy Name) took the loss, striking out one and walking three in two innings of work.

Ursinus is at Lebanon Valley Wednesday.
