Box Score 2 COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus is now 4-0 on it's three-day, six-game stretch as the Bears swept Dickinson Friday afternoon.
The Bears pitched a shutout in game one 4-0, then broke out the bats in a 10-3 win over the Red Devils (10-24, 6-8 Centennial).
Ursinus (18-13, 7-5 Centennial) scored two runs in the fourth and sixth inning in the win over Dickinson in game one. Junior catcher Sam Sinisi (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and junior left fielder Caitlin Higgins (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) had RBI hits in the fourth.
In the sixth, sophomore second baseman Monica Bonitatis (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) smacked a two-run home run that also scored senior third baseman Cassie Brown (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood).
From there, junior pitcher Jennilyn Weber (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley) pitched a six-hit shutout to move to 10-7. She struck out seven.
In game two, Ursinus raced out to a 5-1 lead, then added five in the bottom of the fourth to take the win.
Brown went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, while junior pitcher Kelly Schymanski (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown), senior catcher Rachael Vietheer (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) each had two hits.
Junior centerfielder Amy Gentile (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) hit her first home run of the season as the Bears had 12 hits.
Sophomore Caitlin Whelan (Stanhope, N.J./Pope John XXIII) got the win in relief of Schymanski to move to 2-1. She struck out five and allowed just four hits in the win.
Ursinus will travel to Muhlenberg on Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. start due to forecasted bad weather.
