WESTMINSTER, Md. – It was a successful Saturday for the women's tennis team, as the Bears (6-12, 1-8 Centennial) defeated McDaniel (6-12, 0-10 Centennial) 8-1.
The Bears swept all three doubles matches as senior Jimena Talavera (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) and sophomore Heather McMasters (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) defeated Carissa Grove and Brittany Starlings at number one flight, 8-2, while junior Jessica Tyrrell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) and senior Dana McDonough (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) defeated Laura Pollard and Elise O'Meara at number two flight, 8-2.
At number three flight, Jami Dumler and Renee Tornea defeated Kiersten Patron and Lauren Lewis, 8-2.
In singles play, Talavera defeated Grove at number one flight, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), while Tyrrell defeated Starlings at number two flight, 6-3, 6-1.
McDonough defeated Pollard at number four flight, 6-3, 6-0, while Dumler defeated O'Meara at number five flight, 6-0, 6-0.
Finally, freshman Sydney Dodsen-Nease (East Windsor, N.J./Hun School of Princeton) defeated Nicole Arnold at number six flight, 6-3, 6-1.
