Baseball swept by Gettysburg

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Gettysburg ran its win streak to 16 straight games with a sweep of Ursinus on Sunday afternoon.

In game one, Gettysburg scored three runs in the fifth and sixth innings for a 9-1 win, while in game two, the Bullets (19-3, 5-0 Centennial) banged out 20 hits in a 9-6 win over the Bears (11-8, 3-2 Centennial).

The opener saw designated hitter Cory Karagjozi go 4-for-5 for the Bullets, while second baseman Tommy LeNoir was 3-for-5 with three runs scored.

For Ursinus, freshman designated hitter Austin Feuerman was 3-for-4, with freshman left fielder Austin Kurey driving in the lone run in the eighth on a single that scored freshman catcher Vincent Terry.

Freshman Seth Regensburg took the loss, falling to 3-2. In 4.2 innings, he struck out six and walked one while allowing five runs with only one of them earned.

Drew Feisenthal got the win for Gettysburg, improving to 5-1. He struck out 11 in seven innings of work.

Game two saw Gettysburg take an early 3-0 in the top of the first on RBI hits by Karagjozi and a two-run double by third baseman Nate Simon.

Ursinus came back with two in the bottom of the inning, when senior centerfielder Josh Schnell had a RBI single and Kurey singled to bring home another run.

Ursinus tied the score at 3-all in the second when sophomore first baseman Chris Jablonski doubled to left scoring freshman third baseman CJ Diana.

Gettysburg took the lead for good in the fourth when LeNoir scored on a fielder's choice. The

Bullets put two more on in the sixth when shortstop Scott Zanghellini scored on an error, followed by a RBI double by catcher Cam McDonald.

Ursinus would get those two runs back in the bottom of the sixth when freshman left fielder Jose Colon had a sacrifice fly, followed by a RBI single by Feuerman.

Gettysburg would then put two more on the board in the seventh when LeNoir hit a sacrifice fly, followed by a RBI single from McDonald.

Each team added a run in the eighth, Gettysburg getting a sacrifice fly by Zanghellini and Ursinus getting a sacrifice fly from Feuerman.

In game two, Karagjozi, right fielder Al Posch, Simon and Zanghellini each had three hits for the Bullets, while Ursinus got three hits from senior second baseman Ralph Aurora, and two hits from Diana and Feuerman.

Chris Yoda got the win for Gettysburg in relief of Brett Harrington. Yoda threw 5.1 innings, striking out and walking two. Luke Lawrence got his second save of the season, allowing just two hits in two innings.

For Ursinus, freshman Louis Aikins took the loss, dropping to 0-2. In 5.1 innings, he struck out one and allowed four earned runs.

Ursinus heads to Muhlenberg Monday to finish the two-game series, while opening a two-game set with F&M in Lancaster on Tuesday.
