COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team continued its great start, winning their spring home opener on Monday afternoon with an 8-1 win over Alvernia.

The Bears, now 7-1, started the match by sweeping all three doubles to go up 3-0. At number one doubles, Ashley Nguyen and Aileen Bevard defeated Julie Seidel and Cassandra Noray, 8-4. At number two flight, Audrey Whitebloom and Ariel Danzinger defeated Becca Perkins and Kristy Schwenk, 8-1.

Number three flight saw Christina Cromwell and Stephanie-Jane Seabra defeat Maria Diosteanu and Emily Thek, 8-5.

In singles play, Seidel defeated Nguyen 6-3, 6-0, for the Crusaders (5-1) lone point. At number two flight, Whitebloom defeated Perkins, 6-0, 6-2, with Bashaw winning at number three flight over Noray, 6-4, 6-2.

At number four flight, Cromwell defeated Alyssa Boyd, 6-0, 7-5, with Bevard defeating Diosteanu, 6-3, 6-0 at number five flight.

Finally, Danzinger defeated Lillian Hussar, 6-1, 6-2 at number six flight.
