Women's Wrestling Hosts Inaugural Home Match

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After making their debut as a program last week, the Ursinus College Women's Wrestling team accomplished another first by hosting its first-ever match at Helfferich Hall on Sunday afternoon.

The Bears hosted "The Ursinus Women's Wrestling Scramble" which also featured student-athletes from Alvernia, Delaware Valley, and Cedar Crest.

"We are incredibly proud of how we competed today," Ursinus Director of Wrestling Joe Jamison said. "Every single wrestler showed tremendous improvement from last week, and it was really exciting for us to see them makes such rapid growth in a short period of time. We also had a few come from behind victories, which showed a lot of grit in our wrestlers. The crowd was great, and we had a ton of support from people on campus, which made it a really fun atmosphere for the team. The future of this program is incredibly bright and the strides that we are making is going to make us competitive very quickly."

First-year Jocelyn Lass went 2-0 on the afternoon at 116 by earning wins over Taylor Bloom of Alvernia and Adrianna Dias of Cedar Crest. She defeated Bloom via fall just 53 seconds into the match before earning victory by superiority over Dias, 13-0.
