COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's wrestling team battled throughout the afternoon but eventually fell to Elmira College 30-14 from Helfferich Hall on Sunday.

Kalli Roskos and sophomore
Lauren Gherman collected forfeits.
"The women wrestled really tough today against a strong opponent," Head Coach
Joe Jamison said. "We're getting better every week and can't wait to get back at it next semester. More importantly, there were a lot of young female wrestlers from local youth clubs that were in attendance today; important for them to see themselves in our women as our team continues to become incredible role models."
The dual meet opened at 101lbs as Elmira jumped out to a 10-0 lead behind collecting forfeits at 101 and 109lbs. Lass got the Bears on the board at 116lbs recording a technical fall over Elmira's Ariyanna Orosco. With the score tied 1-1 with one minute remaining in the first period, Lass connected on an arm throw for a quick four points and earned an additional two points by exposing Orosco's back for a 7-1 lead heading into the final period. Lass quickly connected on a headlock and picked up four more points for the 11-1 technical fall.
At 123lbs, Roskos collected a forfeit while improving to 6-1 on the season and remains undefeated in dual meets with a perfect 5-0 record. The Bears regained the match lead at 130lbs as
Lauren Gherman recorded her first career win with a forfeit, giving the Bears a 14-10 advantage. After a double forfeit at 136lbs, first-year
Riley Frymoyer fell at 143lbs as Elmira's Gabby Bradigan tallied a fall at the 1:38-mark.
Elmira regained control of the match at 155lbs as Skyah Chakouian earned a forfeit to increase the Eagles lead to 20-14. At 170lbs,
Calista Kolmer fell via pinfall to Elmira's Hazel Dahlquist in the first period as Elmira earned the match victory collecting a forfeit at 191lbs to close out the meet, 30-14.
The Bears will return to action on Sunday, January 8
th as they travel to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania for the East Stroudsburg University Duals.
