COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team saw two individuals and one relay teams take gold on the first day of Centennial Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.

The Bears sit in second overall in the team standings with 53.5 points just 20 points behind Johns Hopkins in first place.

Junior Isaiah Battle led a 1-2 Bears finish in the weight throw by setting a school record and Centennial Indoor Championship meet record with a mark of 54-5.50 ft. Battle topped teammate Nick Galbraith's school record from this season and Galbraith's championship meet record of 45-05.25 set back in 2019. Galbraith finished second to Battle with a throw of 51-7 to take home the silver medal. Junior Tim Holzapfel posted the third top-five finish for the Bears in the event as he recorded a throw of 46-7.35 to place fourth.

Freshman Brody Myers continued his dominance in the pole vault this season as he became the first Bear in program history to win gold in the event with a mark of 14-10.75 ft. Myers' mark was the highest in the championship meet since Andrew Bartnett of Johns Hopkins set the Centennial record in 2016 with a 16-4.75 ft. Senior Ken Sprankle finished sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 12-5.25 ft. and freshman Evan Mitchell finished eighth with an 11-5.25 ft. mark.

Ursinus took its final gold medal of the day in the 4x200 relay as the team of senior Tyler Reilly, senior Octavious Carter, sophomore Collin Ney, and junior Daniel Tabor broke the Ursinus school record on a time of 1:31.51. Reilly and Carter were also members of the previous group that held the school record back in 2020 and took home the third-straight gold medal for the Bears in the event.

Junior Daniel Maloney broke the third school record of the day on the men's side with a time of 8.36 in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and will head into the finals as the one seed. Tabor placed sixth in the triple jump for the Bears with a mark of 43.1 ft.
