COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team took home a gold medal and saw a school record toppled at the two-day 2026 AARTFC Championships held at Patterson Field for the first time on Wednesday.
Five individual athletes and two relay teams competed for the Bears on the first day in the final meet before NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Sophomore
Mitchell Davis claimed his first outdoor AARTFC Pole Vault title after clearing the bar at 5.06 meters. He also completed his sweep of the event at the AARTFC Championships this year after claiming the indoor pole vault title back in March.
First-year
Noah Tapler continued his tear in the long jump by breaking the Bears outdoor school record in the event at 7.05 meters. Tapler finished sixth overall and bested the previous mark of 6.93 meters set by Austin Bittenbender in 2019. He also teamed up with the 4x100 relay team consisting of sophomore
Andy Zigbuo, junior
James Long-Stratton, and senior
Aiden Tobin to lock up a spot in tomorrow's final on a time of 41.33 that was good for sixth overall. Tapler competed in the 100-meter prelims as well and posted a time of 10.97.
Sophomore
Noah Sanders posted a mark of 54.09 meters in the hammer throw to finish ninth overall and junior
Riley Ford recorded a throw of 51.17 meters in the javelin to finish 19th. Senior
Sean Bowers cleared the pole vault bar at 4.26 meters and the 4x400 relay team of senior
Patrick Ryan, junior
Dylan Baer, plus first-years
Brayden Davis and
Bryson Sacher posted a time of 3:25.05 to finish 15th.
The Bears wrap up the AARTFC Championships tomorrow, May 14th with a start time at 10:00 a.m.
