Men's Track & Field Hosts Frank Colden Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus men's track & field team wrapped up its full weekend of action by competing in the Frank Colden Invitational at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center on Saturday.

 

Freshman Brody Myers came away once again victorious in the pole vault with a mark of 14-5.25 ft. The win in the pole vault was the fourth in four invitationals for Myers after setting the Ursinus school record for the second time this season last week. Senior Ken Sprankle placed in fourth overall for the Bears at 12-5.50 ft.

 

The throws were once again very competitive for the Bears as junior Isaiah Battle and senior Nick Galbriath both posted top-five finishes in the shot put and weight throw. Battle earned a third-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 49-9 ft. and a fourth-place finish in the shot put on a throw of 43-4.50 ft. Galbraith finished fifth place in both the shot put on a throw of 41-11.50 ft. and weight throw at 45-0.50 ft. Junior Tim Holzapfel finished fourth in the weight throw with personal best mark of 49-4.25 ft.

 

In the jumps, freshman Ethan Chambers finished third overall in the high jump behind a personal best mark of 5-8.75 ft. Sophomore Michael Agbeye followed Chambers by earning a fifth-place finish behind a jump of 5-5 ft. Agbeye also competed in the triple jump and placed sixth with a mark of 39-1.75 ft.

 

Ursinus had two athletes compete in the indoor pentathlon as sophomore Muheer Madirosyan finished third with a cumulative score of 1922 through the five events and junior Tyler Ortiz finished fifth with 1691. Ortiz won the long jump portion of the pentathlon with a mark of 18-3 ft.

 

The 4x200 relay team of sophomore Devon Greaves, freshman Mason Jolivette, freshman Tyler Wilson, and freshman Malachi Frazier finished third overall with a time of 1:36.35.

 

The Bears will return to action on Friday, February 11th as they will compete in the two-day VMI Winter Classic.
