Men's Track & Field Shows Well at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team finished off up a full weekend of meets at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Saturday.

The Bears had entries in the two-day meet in addition to having one event completed in the Gwynedd Mercy Twilight Meet on Thursday before it was ultimately canceled due to thunderstorms. The Larry Ellis Invitational put the Bears against various Division III and Division I programs.

Senior Nick Galbraith got things going for the Bears on Thursday by setting a new Ursinus Outdoor Track & Field record in the hammer throw. Galbraith tossed the hammer 169-5 ft. to shatter the old mark of 155 ft. set by Griffin McMann last season. He finished second overall in the event and led six other Bears in the event. Junior Isaiah Battle followed in third by also topping McMann's old mark with a throw of 160-7 ft. and classmate Tim Holzapfel placed fourth with his mark of 135-1 ft. Tom Wood led a trio of freshman by finishing fifth with a career-best throw of 112-6 ft., Chase Shaneman placed sixth with a 99-6 ft. throw, and Parker Howell rounded out the team with a mark of 69-9 ft.

Senior Tyler Reilly took hold of the current best time for the 400-meter dash in the Centennial with his time of 49.04 and led all Division III competitors with his 15th place overall finish. Junior Daniel Tabor also bested his mark from a week ago with a time of 49.78, only trailing Reilly for the top time in the Centennial for the event.

Junior Daniel Maloney posted a time of 15.70 in the 110-meter hurdles while freshman David Kenny raced in the 800 meters and posted a time of 2:02.69. Sophomore Tucker McGrath registered a personal best time of 4:04.98 in the 1,500 meters.  Senior Zach Crebbin was the lone Bear in the jumps at Princeton as he recorded a mark of 6-3.75 ft.

The 4x400 relay team of Reilly, Tabor, sophomore Devon Greaves, and junior Payton Stanziani set the best time for the Centennial this season with a 3:18.82 to finish fourth overall.

Ursinus returns to action on Friday, April 22nd as they will begin competition in the two-day Widener Invitational starting at 3 p.m.
