Men's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season With First-Place Finish

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team opened the outdoor portion of their 2022 season on a strong note by earning a first-place finish at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Saturday. The Bears earned a score of 139.50 to earn the mark at the top of the standings among nine schools.

 

 Freshman Brody Myers picked right where he left off in the indoor season as he set the Bears outdoor school record in the pole vault with a mark of 14-5.25. He topped the previous mark previously held by both James Mulroy (1981) and Mike Malone (2005) and finished second overall in the event. Senior Ken Sprankle finished sixth overall as he posted a mark of 12-11.50.

 

 Senior Tyler Reilly finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.57 and led a Bears 1-2 finish of himself and junior Daniel Tabor, who posted a time of 22.68. Reilly also earned a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a new personal-best time of 11.26.

 

 Freshman Mason Jolivette registered a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.65, and also led a 1-2 Bears finish with sophomore Devon Greaves finishing second on a time of 59.67. Junior Daniel Maloney recorded a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles after posting a time of 15.81

 

First-year David Kenny highlighted the Bears in the distance races by tallying a second-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.92. Sophomore Tucker McGrath recorded a top-five finish in the 1500 meters on a time of 4:08.55 and senior Jesse Wun followed just behind with a 4:10.01.

 

Junior Isaiah Battle earned a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 143-6 ft. after finishing and sophomore Eric Tanz recorded a third-place finish in the javelin on a mark with 154-09. Senior Nick Galbraith earned a 151-0.8 ft.

 

 Tabor paced the jumping events with a second-place finish in the triple jump on a mark of 42-8.75 ft. and sophomore Michael Agbeye placed fourth with a jump of 42-8.75 ft. Agbeye and first-year Ethan Chambers tied for fourth in the high jump on a mark of 5.50 ft.

 

The Bears will return to action on Saturday April, 9th as they will host the Ursinus Outdoor Invitational.
