Men's Track & Field Showcases Depth on Day Two of Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team wrapped up the two-day Widener Invitational with an impressive showing on Saturday.

 

Junior Payton Stanziani registered a personal-best time of 49.57 and finished third overall in the 400-meter dash while leading the Bears in the 200-meter dash with his time of 22.94. Sophomore Collin Ney and freshman Tyler Wilson also set career-bests in the event after posting times of 51.81 and 51.89, respectively. Seniors Zach Crebbin and Tyree Williams-Jackson led the Bears in the 100-meter dash with career-best times of 11.40 and 11.45 while finishing 12th and 14th overall.

 

 

In mid-distance races, freshman David Kenny registered a personal-best time of 1:55.66 in the 800 meters and finish 10th overall. Kenny's time now ranks fifth overall in the Centennial Conference. Freshman Paul Faggioli and sophomore Tucker McGrath also vastly improved their best times in the 800 with finishes of 1:56.42 and 1:56.68, respectively. Freshman Christian Rosado improved his best time for the event by two seconds with his mark of 1:57.83. Faggioli and Rosado also spearheaded the Bears in the 1500 meters with their times of 4:02.76 and 4:04.82

 

 

For throws, freshman Chase Shaneman registered a throw of 169-1 ft. in the javelin to finish fourth overall. With that throw, Shaneman now holds the top third-highest mark in the Centennial Conference for the event. Sophomore Eric Tanz tossed a 160-4 ft. throw that now ranks fifth in the conference and finished eighth overall on the day, while freshman Anthony Peloro impressed with a mark of 152-9 ft. Peloro's throw is now sixth-best in the Centennial Conference. Senior Nick Galbraith finished fourth overall in the hammer throw with his mark of 162-2 ft. and junior Tim Holzapfel followed in sixth with a throw of 153.5 ft. to smash his old best of 139-8 ft. Junior Isaiah Battle finished seventh in the hammer with a mark of 152-4 ft.

 

 

Junior Daniel Maloney led all DIII competitors in the 110-meter hurdles with a second-place finish after posting a time of 15.18 and sophomore Devon Greaves recorded a career-best time of 16.95 and placed 11th overall. Greaves led a pair of Bears in the 400-meter hurdles by tallying a time of 57.66 to finish eighth. Freshman Mason Jolivette rounded out the top-10 in the event with his time of 58.13 in the event.

 

 

Freshman Trey Rolle earned a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a career-best mark of 20-7 ft. and Crebbin finished sixth with a mark of 20-6 ft. Rolle also matched his career-best in the high jump at 5-9 ft. Junior Daniel Tabor headlined the Bears in the triple jump with a mark of 41-0 ft. to finish ninth overall. Senior Ken Sprankle and freshman Evan Mitchell tied for ninth overall in the pole vault with a mark of 12-6 ft.

 

 

The Bears return to action with a split-squad this week. The team will compete at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia starting on Thursday, April 28th and at the TCNJ Lions Invitational that starts on Friday, April 29th.
