Men's Track & Field Impresses at Home Spring Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team turned in a strong performance across the board in their home Spring Invitational on Saturday at Patterson Field.

 

 

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored their senior class between the two teams as a part of senior day ceremonies.

 

 

A 1-2 finish in the 400-meter dash highlighted the track events for the Bears as junior Daniel Tabor bested teammate senior Tyler Reilly with a time of 49.90. Reilly posted a time of 49.94 and junior Payton Stanziani recorded a fifth-place finish on a time of 51.98. Reilly bounced back in the 200-meter dash by winning the race on a time of 22.04. Junior Daniel Maloney also earned a first-place finish in the invitational as he paced the field in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08. Senior Jesse Wun earned a third-place finish in the 5000 meters on a time of 15:48.39 while first-years David Kenny and Paul Faggioli finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800-meter dash with times of 1:57.67 and 1:58.52.

 

 

In the throws, senior Nick Galbraith led a 1-2 Bears finish in the weight throw with a mark of 149-4 ft. and junior Isaiah Battle placed second with a mark of 143-11 ft. Battle also earned a second-place finish as well in the discus with a throw of 126-8 ft. First-year Chase Shaneman earned a pair of top-five finishes in the invitational as he placed third in the javelin with a throw of 158-5 ft. and fourth in the discus on a mark of 126 ft. Junior Tim Holzapfel recorded a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 139-8 ft.

 

 

First-year Brody Myers paced a 1-2-3 finish for Ursinus in the pole vault as he continued his breakout freshman year with a mark of 14-7.25 ft. Senior Ken Sprankle placed second with a mark of 13-5.25 ft. and freshman Evan Mitchell rounded out the top three with a vault of 11-11.75. Senior Zach Crebbin recorded second-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 6-3.50 ft. and freshman Trey Rolle earned a fifth-place finish after posting a jump of 5-11.50 ft. Rolle also finished runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 27-7.75.

 

 

The Bears had a pair of 4x400 relay teams finish first and second as well with the group of Reilly, sophomore Collin Ney, freshman Tyler Wilson, and sophomore Devon Greaves posting a time of 3:24.95. The group of Tabor, Stanziani, freshman Mason Jolivette, and freshman Davis Wittenberg was edged for the win after recording a time of 3:25.07.
