COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Indoor Track & Field team returned to action in style on Saturday at the Collegeville Classic at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center in their first action in over a month.
The Bears finished first in the team standings with 197 points which was 63 points clear of second place Shenandoah.
Senior
Isaiah Battle paced the weight throw by winning the event on his final throw of 56-7 ft and led a 1-2 Ursinus finish with classmate
Tim Holzapfel coming in second on his mark of 51-8 ft. Sophomore
Tom Wood placed fourth with his mark of 44-6 ft. and his classmate
Chase Shaneman recorded a throw of 41-6 ft. to come in seventh. Battle also bested the field in the shot put with his winning throw of 46-4 ft. and Wood followed in second with his mark of 43-10 ft. Senior
Harrison Bonanny recorded a fifth place finish on his throw of 41-1.25 ft. and senior
Pat Patterson-Zuber finished in seventh with his throw of 40-2.75 ft.
Senior
Tucker McGrath impressed by taking the mile with his career best time of 4:24.37 which was just .33 from matching the school record. Freshman
Liam Johnston started a run of four-straight Bears runners in fourth with his time of 4:33.00. Freshman
Ryan Martin followed in fifth with his time of 4:33.27, sophomore
Jack Fisher came in sixth on his time of 4:39.24, and freshman
AJ Luthra placed seventh with his time of 4:39.80
In the sprints, senior
Payton Stanziani led a 1-2 finish in the 400 meters with his time of 50.66 and was followed by junior
Collin Ney on his time of 51.61. Junior
Devon Greaves then rounded out the top five with his time of 52.90. Senior
Daniel Tabor led three Bears in the top-five with his time of 22.76 to finish second overall. Freshman
Aiden Tobin placed third on his time of 22.90 and Ney crossed the line with his time of 23.46 to finish fifth. Tabor also led the Bears in the 60 meter dash with his time of 7.15 and placed third while Tobin crossed the line with a time of 7.21 to finish sixth.
Greaves led a trio of Bears in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.96 to finish second and was trailed by a pair of freshman in
Patrick Ryan and
Ethan Staurowsky who posted times of 9.92 and 10.27, respectively.
Sophomore
Ken Komatsu led five Bears in the pole vault with his mark of 11-11.75 ft. that tied him for second. Sophomore
Evan Mitchell came in fourth after clearing the bar at 11-5.75 ft. and
Ethan Chambers rounded out the top five with his mark of 10-0 ft.
The Bears return to action on Friday, January 27th as they will compete in Franklin & Marshall's Mini-Dip Invitational which starts at 2:00 p.m.
