Cedar Crest (21) and New England College (21) tied for fourth with Hiram College rounding out the top-six with 17 points.
"I'm incredibly proud of how our women wrestled today," Director of Wrestling
Joe Jamison said. "This is the first time we came home with a placement trophy at a tournament, and it was our energy and efforts that got us there. Stacy and Emma both made program history by taking first place, and it was fun to watch everyone rally around each other. We're a young team so we made some mistakes, but the growth is evident. Big things are going to happen once we're at full strength."
In the 170lb round-robin bracket, Matera finished with a perfect 3-0 record with all three of her victories coming by pinfall. She opened against NEC's Rebecca Eaton and after jumping out to an early 8-0 lead, Matera recorded the fall at the 3:18-mark of the second period. During the second round, Matera needed just 25 seconds to pin Cedar Crest's Sarah Seltzer, while earning a pinfall over teammate
Gianna Perez in the final round. Perez finished third in the bracket after finishing with a 1-2 record behind defeating NEC's Rebecca Eaton via a fall at the 2:42-mark of the first period.
The Bears had two wrestlers reach the finals in the 130lb bracket, as Bloomfield and junior
Lauren Gherman finished first and second, respectively. After receiving a bye, Bloomfield won her first match in just 38 seconds behind a fall over Delaware Valley's Carmela Velasco. Gherman also received a bye and advanced to the finals with a 10-0 technical superiority over Cedar Crest's Alaina Stanford. In the finals, it was Bloomfield coming out on top with a 10-0 technical superiority over Gherman at the 2:17-mark, leading to be awarded the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
Sophomore
Kalli Roskos also shined earning a second-place finish in the 123lb bracket behind a 2-1 record. Roskos opened against York's Megan Knapp and quickly earned a 11-0 victory by technical superiority at the 2:15-mark. She met a familiar opponent in the second round, Delaware Valley's Bridgette Schoultz who also was a National qualifier last season. In their fifth meeting of their careers, it was Schoultz coming out on top via a 12-2 decision, but Roskos bounced back in her last match with a 10-0 victory by technical superiority over NEC's Olivia Delgas.
