LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team earned a pair of gold medals and took down a pair of meet records on the first day of Centennial Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall's Schnader Field House.
The Bears sit in second overall in the team standings with 55 points just 13 points behind Johns Hopkins in first place.
Senior
Isaiah Battle led a 1-2 Bears finish while successfully defending his weight throw title. Battle recorded a winning throw of 59-1 ft. that topped the Ursinus, Centennial Conference, and Centennial Conference Indoor Championship Meet record that he already owned. It was the fourth-straight gold medal in the event for the Bears. Senior
Tim Holzapfel took home the silver medal with his throw of 53-9 ft. and sophomore
Chase Shaneman finished seventh to earn some points for the Bears with his career best throw of 46-4 ft.
Ursinus then won its fourth-straight gold medal in the 4x200 relay as the team of freshman

Collin Ney broke the Centennial Indoor Meet and Ursinus school record on a time of 1:30.54. Ney and Tabor were also members of the previous gold medal winning squad and the group topped the Centennial Meet record set by Muhlenberg in 2012. Liam Johnston won the silver with their time of 7:56.46.
Sophomores
Evan Mitchell and
Ken Komatsu earned medals in the pole vault as Mitchell won the silver after clearing the bar at 13-11 ft. Komatsu tallied the bronze medal behind his mark of 13-5 ft.
The Bears had three qualify for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles tomorrow, led by senior
Daniel Maloney with the top time of the day at 8.55. Junior
Devon Greaves seeded sixth behind his career best time of 8.88 and freshman
Patrick Ryan earned the last spot on his own career best time of 9.37. Tabor and Tobin each qualified for the 60 meter dash finals with each posting a time of 7.14.

Logan Yanoff impressed in the Heptathlon as he recorded 2,419 points to hold the lead in the event after the first day.
The second and final day of Indoor Championships will start at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, February 26th.
