CHESTER, Pa. – Senior
Isaiah Battle added another school record to his name on Friday evening as he set the Ursinus Men's Track & Field discus throw record on the first day of the Widener Track & Field Invitational.
Battle blitzed the previous school record of 48.41 meters that was set by Jon Wood back in 1988 with his mark of 50.04 meters. His throw currently leads the Centennial Conference by just over five feet and ranks 13th in all of NCAA Division III. Along with winning the discus, Battle recorded a throw of 14.49 meters in the shot put to place fourth overall.
Sophomore
Tom Wood finished sixth in the shot put with his mark of 13.85 meters while senior
Pat Patterson-Zuber topped his previous season best in the shot put by recording a throw of 13.09 meters. Wood recorded a career best throw of 38.91 meters in the discus while senior
Tim Holzapfel and junior
Parker Howell both set new discus career bests at 37.63 and 37.44 meters, respectively.
Junior
Will Gillette topped his previous career best time in the 10,000 meters after crossing the line at 33:23.79 and finished third overall. Juniors Ean Chasisnoff and
Henry Wilt also set new career bests in the 10,000 meters after recording times of 35:05.22 and 35:17.93, respectively. Senior
Steve Wilkins finished fifth in the 5,000 meters after crossing the line at 17:18.63
The Bears complete the two-day Widener Invitational tomorrow, April 22nd starting at 9:00 a.m.
