Men's Track & Field Wraps Up at Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team wrapped up their competition at the two-day Widener Invitational on Saturday.
 
 
Freshman Aiden Tobin had a big day for the Bears as he led the team in a pair of sprinting events. Tobin and senior Daniel Tabor had a thrilling race in the 200 meters as Tobin edged Tabor by .01 with his time of 21.97 to finish third and fourth overall, respectively. The duo now sits 1-2 in the Centennial Conference for the event with their times set today. Tobin also led the Bears in the 100 meters after establishing a personal best time of 11.01 while Tabor recorded a personal best time of 11.07. Junior Collin Ney and senior Payton Stanziani took over 1-2 in the Centennial Conference in the 400 meters with Ney edging Stanziani 49.12 to 49.16 today, both being personal best times.
 
 
 
In throws, senior Isaiah Battle led the Bears in the hammer throw on his mark of 51.62 meters and was closely followed by classmate Tim Holzapfel who finished fourth on his career best throw of 51.32 meters.
 
 
Junior Devon Greaves led multiple Bears in the 110-meter hurdles as he finished eighth overall behind a personal best time of 16.04 that is good for the fourth best time in the Centennial Conference. Sophomore Mason Jolivette finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles after posting a career best time of 56.21 that is currently second fastest in the Centennial for the event.
 
 
Freshman Markel Roberts-Jackson topped his previous best outdoor high jump mark from a week ago by clearing the bar at 1.77 meters while finishing seventh overall. The Centennial indoor high jump champion's mark is now the fourth-best in the Centennial Conference
 
 
Junior Tucker McGrath recorded a personal best time of 3:59.47 to lead the Bears in the 1500 meters with his 12th place overall finish. First-year Liam Johnston also tallied a personal best time in the event after the crossing the line in 4:18.40.
 
For the second-straight week, the Bears dealt with thunderstorms during the event as weather forced the cancellation of the javelin, pole vault, and 4x400 relay.
 
 
The Bears return to action on Friday, April 28th as they will start competition in the two-day TCNJ Lions Outdoor Invitational starting at 1:00 p.m.
