PHILADELPHIA/EWING, N.J – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team opened its penultimate weekend before Centennial Championships in split squad action on Friday. Part of the team went to compete in the 127th Penn Relays at the historic Franklin Field while others took part in the first of the two-day TCNJ Lions Invitational.
The 4x400 relay team of senior
Daniel Tabor, juniors
Devon Greaves and
Collin Ney, along with freshman
Aiden Tobin highlighted the day by winning the College Men's 4x400 Pop Haddleton MAC race in rainy conditions. The four recorded a time of 3:22.79 to bring home the first Penn Relays "Wheel" back to Collegeville for the first time in the history of the program. The time is currently the fastest by any Bears 4x400 relay team this season.
Earlier in the day, the 4x100 relay team of Tobin, sophomore
Mason Jolivette, Ney, and Tabor competed in the 4x100 Eastern event and posted a time of 43.50 that placed 12th overall. It was the fourth-fastest time in the Centennial Conference for the event.
At TCNJ, four members competed in the hammer throw on day one and senior
Isaiah Battle led the way with his throw of 51.68 meters. He finished fifth overall and first among Division III throwers in the event. Senior
Tim Holzapfel recorded a throw of 46.43 meters and finished ninth while sophomore
Tom Wood posted a career best throw of 41.33 meters. Sophomore
Chase Shaneman rounded out the group with a throw of 35.16 meters.
The Bears will complete the second day of the TCNJ Invitational tomorrow, April 29th starting at 11:00 a.m.
