Aiden Tobin smashed the previous Ursinus program and Centennial Conference record on the first day of the AARTFC Championships at Susquehanna University on Wednesday.
The squad soared to a time of 3:12.68 to finish third overall and topped the previous best time set one year ago tomorrow at Moravian in the 2022 AARTFC Championships by Tabor, Stanziani,
Devon Greaves, and former Bear
Tyler Reilly. The time is currently the 12th-fastest in all of NCAA Division III as they put themselves once again in a good spot to qualify for the NCAA Championship meet next week in Rochester, New York. The four improved their previous season best time of 3:14.19 that was set on Monday at the Widener Final Qualifier.
In the throws, junior
Isaiah Battle registered a throw of 42.06 meters in the discus and finished 17th overall. Four Bears competed in the javelin and sophomore
Anthony Peloro led the group with a personal best throw of 52.28 meters and finished eighth overall. Sophomore
Chase Shaneman also set a career best with a mark of 51.86 meters to finish 11th and junior
Eric Tanz finished 13th with a throw of 51.19 meters. Sophomore
Eric Sugarman rounded the group out with his throw of 45.66 meters.
Freshman
Liam Johnston recorded a time of 9:56.22 in the steeplechase and junior
Will Gillette crossed the line at 32:47.50 in the 10,000 meters to end the day.
The Bears wrap up competition in the two-day event tomorrow, May 18th starting at 10:00 a.m.
