Ursinus Inducts Six Members, Five Teams into Athletics Hall of Fame

COLLEGEVILLE - Ursinus College inducted six individuals and five National Championship teams into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Sunday, December 8th. It was also the 50th celebration of the Ursinus Athletics Hall of Fame.
 
Taking their place among the college's all-time greats were Steve Donahue '84, Monica Irving '14, Greg Martell '12, Jeff Ocampo '12, Dave Randolph '09, and Jo Warren '13. In addition, the Ursinus Women's Lacrosse National Championship teams of 1983, 1984, 1986, 1989, and 1990 were enshrined as the first Team of Excellence Award.
 
 
The six members and the Team of Excellence squads of the 2024 Hall of Fame class were inducted in a part of a ceremonial brunch event held at Rivercrest Golf Club in Phoenixville. Below is a list of the new inductees and their impressive athletic resumes:
 
 
Steve Donahue
Donahue, a 1984 Ursinus graduate, was a two-sport athlete for the Bears in both basketball and baseball. He earned four letters in Collegeville and served as a team captain for Basketball his senior year. Donahue was a member of the 1981 basketball squad finished 23-8 and advanced to the NCAA Final four as a freshman. As a sophomore, Ursinus advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in 1982. Donahue was a pitcher on the baseball team and pitched in 18 games over three seasons. After graduation, Donahue pursued a career in coaching and made a name for himself as one of the most decorated coaches in the history of Ivy League Basketball. After a few stops as an assistant, Donahue got his first head coaching job at Cornell in 2000. Donahue led Cornell to three consecutive Ivy League titles from 2008 to 2010 and a trip to the 2010 NCAA Sweet 16. After a stint at Boston College, he returned to Southeastern Pennsylvania in 2015 to become the head coach at Penn and quickly turned the Quakers into a contender in the Ivy League. Donahue led Penn to Ivy League title in 2018, which was the first for the team since 2007. That same season, Donahue was named the Ivy League Coach of the Year, NABC District 13 Coach of the Year, and ECAC Coach of the Year.
 
 
Monica Irving
A 2014 graduate, Durham was a dynamic presence for the Ursinus gymnastics team. Durham won the NCGA Vault National Champion in 2012 and was a two-time NCGA First Team All-American in 2012 and 2014 on the Vault. Durham excelled in the classroom as well by being named an Academic All-American in all four seasons she was in Collegeville. After Ursinus, Monica earned her master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Springfield College. She is a wife of 8 years and mom to 3 beautiful children ages 5, 3, and 1
 
 
Greg Martell
 
A 2012 graduate, Greg Martell became one of most feared linebackers in Ursinus program and Centennial Conference history. Martell was a three-time All-Centennial Conference Selection with two being first team nods. He became the first Bear to be named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 while also picking up ECAC Defensive Player of the Year honors that very season. Martell was instrumental in leading the Bears to a Co-Centennial Championship in 2010. Off the field, he was a three-time Academic All-Centennial Selection. Greg currently serves as the Director of Partnership Analytics at Plymouth Rock Assurance.
 
 
Jeff Ocampo
Ocampo, a 2012 graduate, set the standard for men's lacrosse at Ursinus in the early years of the program. He was a Two-Time USILA All-American Honorable Mention in 2010 and 2011 and became the first Ursinus Men's Lacrosse player to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Year in 2011. He was a two-time All-Centennial First Team selection and ranks sixth in program history with 92 goals. Ocampo helped lead Ursinus Men's Lacrosse to first-ever Centennial Conference Tournament appearance in 2011. Ocampo earned USILA Scholar All-American honors in 2012. He became an adjunct professor at Ursinus in 2023  
 
 
Dave Randolph
Randolph, a 2009 graduate, was a prolific hitter for the Bears during his time in Collegeville as he was a two-time All-Centennial Conference first team in selection. He is the all-time Ursinus leader in RBI with 114 and hits with 198 while ranking 3rd with a .409 batting average. In 2007, Randolph led the Centennial Conference with a .468 batting average and .533 on-base percentage. Randolph piled up 65 hits in 2007, tied for the most in a single season in school history. He ranks fourth in Centennial Conference history with a .498 on-base percentage, sixth in batting average, and ninth in hits. He was equally as strong in the classroom by garnering Two Academic All-Centennial Selections and was named an Academic All-American by ESPN the Magazine in 2009.  Randolph graduated from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2011 with Master's in Biochemistry and currently serves as an FBI special agent.
 
 
Jo Warren
Warren, a 2013 graduate of Ursinus, did a little of everything for the Ursinus Gymnastics team as she paced the team in multiple events. Warren was a Seven-time NCGA All-American with Three of the honors coming on Bars, Two on the Floor, and Two All-Around. She was an NCGA Championship qualifier in all four years on the team and was named an NCGA Academic All-American in 2013. Warren was named the most Outstanding Ursinus athlete following the 2013 season.  Warren earned a Master of Science in Software Engineering from Villanova in 2017. She currently works as a senior engineer at a startup called Heard, which provides back office tools for therapists
 
 
 
Ursinus Women's Lacrosse National Championship teams: 1983, 1984, 1986, 1989, 1990
These Ursinus Women's Lacrosse teams led the program into prominence in the 1980's and the early 90's. Starting with winning two National Championships under the USWLA, the Bears became the gold standard of Division III Women's Lacrosse of the early NCAA years by taking the 1986, 1989, and 1990 National Championships. The Bears appeared in six of the seven Division III National Championships during that stretch and compiled a record of 107-34-1 between 1983 and 1990. Ursinus garnered 26 All-Americans during those seasons as well.
