HAVERFORD, Pa. – In their final meet before Centennial Conference Championships next week, the Ursinus Men's Track & Field team showed well at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford on Saturday.
The Bears competed against six different schools from either the Greater Philadelphia area or the Centennial Conference in the meet.
The meet opened on Friday afternoon as the weight throw was held at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center. Junior
Chase Shaneman finished second in the event after recording a career best throw of 16.33 meters. Shaneman's mark now sits second in the Centennial Conference entering championship weekend. Junior
Tom Wood also set a career best mark of 14.46 meters and finished fourth overall while senior
Parker Howell placed eighth on a career best throw of 12.06 meters. Wood followed by winning the shot put on Saturday behind a mark of 14.57 meters. Howell placed third on his throw of 13.50 meters and first-year
Carter Kensil recorded a personal best throw of 12.79 meters to finish fifth. Sophomore
Deane Leader was seventh in the shot put on his throw of 11.78 meters and junior
Davonte Hinds recorded a personal best throw of 11.54 meters to finish ninth.
Junior
Ken Komatsu won the pole vault after clearing the bar at 4.10 meters. Sophomore
Cole Jackson recorded third place finishes in both the long jump and triple jump behind marks of 6.00 and 13.17 meters, respectively. Junior
Caden Johnson placed just behind Jackson in fourth for the long jump at 5.93 meters.
A pair of Bears finished in the top-five for the 60 meter hurdles as first-year
Dylan Baer came in third with a personal best time of 9.83 meters while sophomore
Ethan Staurowsky placed fifth with a time of 10.67 meters. First-year
Daniel Magallanes earned a pair of seventh place finishes in the 60 and 200 meters. He recorded a personal best time of 24.62 meters and a mark of 7.52 in the 60.
In distance, junior
Zachary Cosme placed seventh in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:17.97 and senior
Ean Chasinoff recorded a personal best time of 9:54.67 to finish eighth.
The Bears begin competition at the 2024 Centennial Conference Indoor Championships which will be hosted by Franklin & Marshall. First competition begins Saturday, February 24th at 10:30 a.m.
