HAVERFORD, Pa. – In a last tune up before Centennial Conference Championships next week, the Ursinus Women's Track & Field team competed at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford on Saturday.
The Bears competed against seven different schools from either the Greater Philadelphia area or the Centennial Conference in the meet.
Senior
Jacqueline Allen opened the weekend on Friday at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center by winning the weight throw on a season best mark of 13.94 meters. Allen now holds the fourth best throw in the Centennial Conference for the weight throw and finished second in the shot put on Saturday with a throw of 11.67 meters. Three first-years followed Allen in the weight throw on Friday and all set personal best marks.
Hannah Quinn placed fourth with her throw of 11.91 meters,
Randi Wood was sixth on her mark of 10.22 meters, and
Libby Zalar placed eight at 9.47 meters. Wood also set a personal best in the shot put and placed third behind Allen with her throw of 9.94 meters. Zalar was sixth with a 9.24 meter toss in the shot put and first-year
Talia Jones was seventh on a mark of 8.96 meters.
First-year
Juniper Bauroth-Sherman paced the pole vault after clearing the bar at 2.90 meters and sophomore
Lucy Cornett was seventh at a mark of 2.30 meters.
Junior
Sierra Hufnagle was the lone Bear in the 400 meters and finished eighth with a time of 1:08.90. Sophomore
Veronica Filippone recorded a personal best time of 29.70 and finished 11th overall in the 200 meters.
Ursinus starts competition at the 2024 Centennial Conference Indoor Championships which will be hosted by Franklin & Marshall. First competition begins Saturday, February 24th at 10:30 a.m.
