CHESTER, Pa. – Senior
Rainah Dunham continued to rewrite the jumps portion of the Ursinus Women's Track & Field record books as she set the outdoor long jump school record on day two of the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener on Saturday.
Having already taken over the indoor school records of the long and triple jump this winter, Dunham wasted no time in her first appearance of the outdoor season by blitzing the field with a jump of 5.73 meters. Her jump easily topped the old Ursinus school record of 5.47 set by Krista Snyder in 2016 and is currently the farthest long jump in all of Division III.
The Bears had a pair of top-10 finishes in the 100-meter hurdles as first-year
Sam Wechsler finished second with a time of 15.22 while sophomore
Juniper Bauroth-Sherman finished sixth with a time of 17.15. Bauroth-Sherman also finished sixth in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.00 meters. Sophomore
Kaelin Ryan turned in a strong showing in the 400 meter hurdles with a fourth place finish on a time of 1:08.01.
Junior
Meghan Carroll set a new personal best time of 2:20.60 in the 800 meters and finished fourth overall. The 4x100 relay team of Wechsler and sophomores
Tashyah Sample,
Rhiannon Okuniewski, and
Lily Nagy placed third with a time of 49.56.
Ursinus returns to action on Friday, April 5th as they will open up their home Track & Field Festival starting at 3:30 p.m.
