LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team got its weekend started at the two-day Bucknell University Bison Classic on Saturday.
Competing against teams from all three NCAA Divisions, the Bears turned in another strong showing in what a dynamic spring season has been thus far.
Along with most of the team at Bucknell, the 4x400 relay team of Seniors
Daniel Tabor,
Collin Ney, and
Payton Stanziani along with sophomore
Aiden Tobin traveled to Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational and finished second in a field that had six of the 11 schools competing being Division I. The four recorded a season best time of 3:17.24 that is tops in both the Centennial Conference and Metro Region while ranking 24th nationally.
The Bears had student-athletes in multiple throwing events held on Saturday at Bucknell. Junior
Chase Shaneman recorded a career best throw of 46.50 meters that was good for 14th overall and second among Division III throwers. His toss is the second longest in the Centennial Conference and seventh in the metro region. Three Bears competed in the javelin and were led by first-year
Jayden McKeen, who finished 12th overall and second among Division III throwers with a mark of 55.19 meters Shaneman placed 15th with a throw of 53.19 meters and junior
Eric Tanz recorded a mark of 47.05 meters.
On the track, sophomore
Liam Johnston crossed the line at 9:32.74 in the 3,000 steeplechase and finished 24th overall while being seventh among Division III runners. First-year
Troy Hedrick finished 13th overall and fifth among Division III runners in the 800 meters with his time of 2:00.20.
Ursinus wraps up their weekend tomorrow, April 14th at the Bison Classic which starts back up at 11:00 a.m.
