PHILADELPHIA/EWING, N.J – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team started in two different places in their penultimate weekend before Centennial Championships on Friday.
Two relay teams competed in the annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The 4x400 squad of sophomore
Aiden Tobin, senior
Daniel Tabor, senior
Collin Ney, and senior
Payton Stanziani won their eastern heat consisting of four Division I schools behind a time of 3:14.60 to qualify for the finals tomorrow evening at 5:50 p.m. They still hold the fastest time for the event in the Centennial and Metro Region and now sit 10th fastest in all of Division III now.
The 4x100 squad of Tobin, Ney, Tabor, and first-year
Riley Ford also qualified for the finals tomorrow afternoon at 4:55 p.m. behind their time of 42.45 that was good for fourth overall in the Eastern heat.
Meanwhile at the first day of the TCNJ Lions Invitational, junior
Tom Wood led a trio of Bears in the hammer throw with his mark of 42.60 meters that placed him 13th overall. Sophomores
Deane Leader and
Sean Barrera recorded throws of 38.14 and 37.80 meters, respectively. Junior
Chase Shaneman finished 10th overall in the javelin on his top throw of 51.80 meters and classmate
Eric Sugarman registered a mark of 48.54 meters to finish 13th in his season best throw. Junior
Anthony Peloro tossed a throw of 45.02 meters that was also a season best in 18th overall.
The Bears wrap up the weekend tomorrow, April 27th as the 4x100 and 4x400 relay team will race in their finals heat in Philadelphia while others will get the second day of the TCNJ Invitational started at 11:00 a.m.
