PHILADELPHIA/EWING, N.J – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team was in two different places to start their penultimate weekend before Centennial Championships and set two school records in the process on Friday.
At the Penn Relays, the 4x100 relay team of sophomores
Tashyah Sample and
Kaelin Ryan, first-year
Sam Wechsler, plus senior
Rainah Dunham smashed through the school record in their prelims heat with a time of 48.93. They bested the previous time of 49.24 set in 2011 by Victoria Goodenough, Kirsten King, Amanda Laurito, and Lauren Lammers and will race again tomorrow in the 4x100 Eastern Finals at 4:45 p.m. Their time now sits third fastest in both the Centennial Conference and Metro Region.
Dunham also competed in the Penn Relays triple jump and recorded a mark of 11.82 meters that placed her ninth overall and top among Division III competitors. Sample and Ryan went back to work at night along with junior
Meghan Carroll plus sophomore
Jaycie Miller in the 4x400 Centennial/MAC race. The four finished fourth of six teams with a time of 4:08.51.
Meanwhile at the first day of the TCNJ Lions Invitational, senior
Jacqueline Allen extended her own hammer throw school record for the second time this season with a mark of 43.24 meters. Her throw is the third longest in the Centennial and she placed 10th overall. Sophomore
Kirra Norling was the other Bear competing Friday as she placed eighth in the 5,000 meters with her time of 21:30.10.
The Bears wrap up the weekend tomorrow, April 27th as the 4x100 relay team will race in their finals heat in Philadelphia while others will get the second day of the TCNJ Invitational started at 11:00 a.m.
