COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team opened their first ever home Track & Field Festival on Friday afternoon at Patterson Field with multiple standout performances.
In the first of the two day meet, the Bears saw three individuals and one relay team take first place in their respective events.
Two of those first place individual finishes came in the two throwing events held on Friday, the shot put and the discus. Junior
Tom Wood continued his strong stretch by winning the event on a throw of 15.15 meters. Senior
Parker Howell placed third with a season best throw of 12.76 meters while first-year
Carter Kensil was right behind in fourth on a mark of 12.41 meters.
Junior
Chase Shaneman claimed the discus in a 1-2 Ursinus finish behind a personal best throw of 44.74 meters. His throw is the second longest in the Centennial Conference so far this outdoor season. Howell was second on a personal best throw of his own of 39.79 meters. Wood finished fifth with a season best throw of 37.26 meters and sophomore
Deane Leader finished sixth on a throw of 36.19 meters, also a personal best. Sophomore
Sean Barrera came in eighth with a season best throw of 32.11 and Kensil rounded out the top-10 with a personal best of 31.37 meters.
Ursinus had a pair of 4x400 relay teams compete in the evening and the pairing of sophomore

Payton Stanziani blitzed the field with a time of 3:19.17. The time is six seconds faster than the next school in the Centennial Conference, the fastest in the metro region, and the 13th fastest in Division III. The team of junior

Dolan Cox placed second with a time of 3:30.12.
First-year
Jaxon Geddio impressed by winning the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.85 meters. Sophomore
James Sims III placed fifth with a mark of 1.75 meters and classmate
Cole Jackson was sixth after clearing the bar at the same height. In the long jump, senior
Michael Agbeye finished sixth with a season best mark of 6.04 meters and junior
Caden Johnson was eighth on a season best jump of 5.92 meters.
Sophomore
Liam Johnston was the highest finishing NCAA runner in the 1500 and second overall after crossing the line with a personal best time of 4:02.93. Junior
Christian Rosado placed fourth overall with a time of 4:05.81 and first-year
Troy Hedrick was right behind in fifth with a time of 4:06.41. Junior
Zachary Cosme paced the Bears in the 5K with a time of 16:36.94 to place fifth overall.
The Bears wrap up the Ursinus Track & Field Festival tomorrow, April 6th with a start time of 10:00 a.m.
