Women's Track & Field Begins Home Track & Field Festival

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team got their first ever home Track & Field Festival started on Friday afternoon at Patterson Field with a strong start to the weekend.
 
 
In the first of the two day meet, the Bears had one individual and one relay team take first place in their respective events.
 
 
Senior Jacqueline Allen won the shot put on a season best throw of 11.88 meters. Allen still holds the fifth best throw in the shot put so fat this outdoor season. Four other Bears earned top-10 finishes in the shot put as first-year Libby Zalar was fourth with a throw of 9.81 meters and classmate Randi Wood followed in fifth with a mark of 9.59 meters. First-year Hannah Quinn placed sixth with a throw of 9.34 meters and classmate Talia Jones rounded out the top-10 with a mark of 8.98 meters.  Wood led a trio of Bears in the top-five for the discus with a second place finish after completing a personal best mark of 32.56 meters. Allen was fourth on her season best throw of 31.03 meters and Quinn placed fifth with her mark of 30.00 meters.
 
 
The 4x400 team of sophomores Tashyah Sample, Alexa Mervine, Jaycie Miller, and Kaelin Ryan won the event with a time of 4:10.52. Their time is currently the second fastest in the Centennial Conference and third fastest in the Metro Region.
 
 
Senior Samantha Grubb led all NCAA runners in the 5K after crossing the line with a time of 18:38.72 and junior Ryann Wauthier followed in third with her time of 18:51.13. Junior Meghan Carroll placed fifth in the 1500 meters with a persona best time of 5:04.76 and sophomore Mia Sideris was just behind in sixth on her time of 5:04.91.
 
 
In jumps, sophomore Rhiannon Okuniewski finished fourth with a season best jump of 4.67 meters and classmate Lily Nagy finished sixth on a personal best mark of 4.56 meters. First-year Madison Lippay led a trio of Bears in the high jump with her mark of 1.45 meters that was good for fourth overall. First-year Aja McBride and sophomore Amanda Traska tied for sixth on their mark of 1.40 meters.
 
 
 
Ursinus wraps up the Ursinus Track & Field Festival tomorrow, April 6th with a start time of 10:00 a.m.
