ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior
Rainah Dunham won her first Centennial gold medal to highlight the Ursinus Women's Track & Field team on the second day of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Muhlenberg College.
After two days, the Bears moved up to third in the team standings with 40 combined points behind a strong Saturday.
Dunham unseated three-time defending Centennial Champion and two-time defending National Champion Victoria Kadiri of Johns Hopkins in the long jump with her mark of 5.64 meters for her first career Centennial gold medal. First-year
Sam Wechsler also defeated Kadiri with her bronze medal finish behind a personal best mark of 5.49 meters. Dunham and Wechsler now set their sights on the triple jump tomorrow afternoon.
Wechsler also led a trio of Bears that qualified for the 100-meter hurdles tomorrow after finishing third in the prelims with a time of 15.39 meters. Sophomore
Kaelin Ryan finished seventh with a personal best time of 16.29 and classmate
Juniper Bauroth-Sherman was eighth on her 16.69, also a personal best. Ryan qualified for the 400 meter hurdle finals as well after placing fifth with her time of 1:10.88.
First-year
Kaelin Ryan impressed in the prelims of the 400 meter hurdles by crossing the line third with her personal best time of 1:08.16 and will advance to the finals of the event on Sunday. Adams qualified for the 800 meter finals by recording a time of 2:17.59 to finish fifth in the prelims. Sophomore
Tashyah Sample locked up a spot in the 400 meter finals behind her seventh place finish in the prelims with a time of 1:00.11.
Senior
Jacqueline Allen paced a trio of Bears in the discus throw with a personal best mark of 36.19 meters and finished fifth. First-years
Randi Wood and
Hannah Quinn placed 10th and 14th in the event on throws of 32.88 meters and 31.16 meters, respectively.
Sophomore
Amanda Traska and first-year
Aja McBride tied for seventh in the high jump after both clearing the bar at 1.47 meters. First-year
Madison Lippay placed ninth with her mark of 1.42 meters.
Ursinus will complete the Centennial Championships tomorrow, May 5th with the first event going off at 11:00 a.m.
