Nine Women's Wrestlers Place at Princeton Open

PRINCETON, N.J. – Behind nine place-winners, the Ursinus women's wrestling team shined in its 2025–26 season debut at the Princeton Open.

First-year Jurelys Peguero Del Rosario paced the Ursinus lineup by winning the 180-pound bracket, while juniors Cloe Charlesworth (145), Mandy Gavares (103), and first-year Jahlia Miguel (180) all earned runner-up finishes.

"The women wrestled really well today," Director of Wrestling Joe Jamison said. "The Princeton Open continues to get bigger and better, and this is the most finalists we've ever had, along with our first champion. Obviously, there are some things we need to clean up, but everyone who competed today wrestled with a lot of heart, and as coaches, that's all we can really ask for."

Peguero Del Rosario opened her tournament by pinning Western New England's Alyssa Guzman at the one-minute mark, then reached the semifinals with a fall over Emory & Henry's Eryn Hubble in the first period. After a victory by fall over teammate Emma Matera, Peguero Del Rosario pinned Miguel at the 4:04 mark to win the individual title in her collegiate debut. With the victory, she became the Bears' first-ever champion at the Princeton Open.

On the opposite side of the bracket, Miguel also impressed in her collegiate debut, finishing with a 4–1 record before falling to Peguero Del Rosario in the finals of the 180-pound weight class. She opened with a fall at the 1:36 mark over Western New England's Mikayla Maloy, then earned a 10–0 technical superiority victory over Doughgirls' Maddy Beauregard to reach the quarterfinals. Miguel tallied another 10–0 win over Karlme Camarena-Tejeda before defeating No. 2 seed Atlyana Williams of Western New England, 6–2.

In the 103-pound bracket, Gavares posted a 3–1 record to place second. She opened with a 58-second fall over Melani Ruiz and advanced to the semifinals with a 10–0 victory over Cedar Crest's Mary Lopez. Gavares then tallied a 14–4 win over Olivia Mancha before falling in the finals to New England College's Alex Dobson by fall.

At 145 pounds, Charlesworth became the final Bear to reach a championship bout, finishing with a 4–1 record. She opened with a 57-second fall over Emory & Henry's Natalie Glocondo and then pinned Western New England's Rebecca Kilday in 39 seconds to reach the quarterfinals. After advancing by forfeit, Charlesworth earned a 7–2 win over Coast Guard's Paraskevi Christopolos to make the final. In the championship match, Charlesworth led 8–6 before ultimately falling by fall to place second.

Junior Stacy Bloomfield (131) and Matera (180) each reached the consolation championship, finishing third and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, first-year Kloi Tighe (124) and junior Paisley Fox (145) each recorded fifth-place finishes, with first-year Charlotte Bowman taking sixth at 160 pounds.

First-years Aubree Butler (110), Felicity Davis (145), Marty Morrison (160), and Tessa Master (160) also notched their first collegiate victories during the tournament.

The Bears return to action Sunday, November 9th, as they host Marymount University and Cedar Crest in a tri-match starting at noon.
