Men's Track & Field Takes on Widener Indoor Classic

PHILADELPHIA – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team continued its indoor season by competing at the Widener Indoor Classic hosted at the University of Pennsylvania's brand new Ott Center on Saturday.
 
 
Competing against schools from all three divisions, the Bears once again held their own as the Centennial Indoor Track & Field Championships sit two weeks away.
 
 
First-year Mitchell Davis was back in action on the pole vault and cleared the bar at 4.85 meters to lead all NCAA competitors in the event and finished second overall. Junior Aiden Tobin set a season best time in the 200 meters at 21.97 to finish fifth overall and was third among Division III runners.
 
 
Junior Liam Johnston earned a top-five finish (second among D3 runners) in the mile after crossing the line at 4:17.89. Senior Christian Rosado led the Bears in the 800 meters with a season best time of 1:59.14 while junior Patrick Ryan posted a personal best time of 8.84 in the 60-meter hurdle prelims. First-year Andy Zigbuo also posted a personal best time of 7.17 in the 60-meter prelims. Seniors Devon Greaves and Mason Jolivette posted times of 52.03 and 52.76, respectively, in the 400 meters and Jolivette's time was a season best.
 
 
Junior James Sims III was second among Division III athletes in the high jump as he cleared the bar at 1.93 meters to finish seventh overall. Junior Cole Jackson placed 12th overall in the triple jump with his mark of 13.25 meters. The throwing events were held at Widener on Friday afternoon and senior Tom Wood led the Bears in the shot put with an 11th-place finish (4th among D3 athletes) at 14.08 meters. First-year Noah Sanders finished ninth (5th among D3 athletes) in the weight throw with his mark of 14.63 meters.


The 4x400 relay team of Tobin, Jolivette, Greaves, and first-year Kyle Cummings finished ninth overall with their time of 3:28.01. 
 
 
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, February 22nd as they will compete in Haverford's annual Keogh Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.
