LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior
Jonah Kasznay highlighted the Ursinus College men's swimming team's final day of competition at the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday.
Kasznay secured his second bronze medal of the Centennial Championships by finishing third in the 1650-yard freestyle behind a time of 16:03.94. His time finished just shy of his school record mark of 16:00.43, which occurred at conferences in 2023. Classmate
Jake Klucinec placed 17th overall in the event by touching the wall at 17:09.70.
The Bears finished sixth as a team totaling 314 team points, while Swarthmore College (928) repeated as team champions. Gettysburg College (892) ranked second, Franklin & Marshall (466) took third, and Dickinson College (349) placed fourth. Washington College (344) secured fifth place and McDaniel (148) College rounded out the seven-team field.
In the 200-yard backstroke, first-year
Josh Travers placed 14th overall and sixth in the B-Final by totaling a time of 2:00.14. Next, in the B-Final of the 100-yard freestyle, seniors
Dylan Schreffler (46.95) and
Kevin Sonn (47.12) placed fifth and seventh, respectively. First-year
Evan Wagner stopped the clock at 2:14.72 in the B-Final of the 200-yard breaststroke to place seventh.
Sophomore
Jack Giuliana shined in the 200-yard butterfly recording a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:53.15, which now ranks as a personal best and second all-time in program history. Senior
Jan Perez-Bonilla added a second-place nod in the B-Final of the 200 fly by touching the wall at a personal best time of 1:56.49.
Ursinus closed out the meet by finishing fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Sonn, Schreffler, Giuliana, and Kasznay combined for a time of 3:05.59. The time ranked just behind the Bears' record-setting performance last season when they totaled a time of 3:04.11.
