DALLAS, Pa. – The Ursinus men's swimming team wrapped up its weekend by finishing second at the Cougar Splash, hosted by Misericordia University on Sunday.
Ursinus totaled 415 team points en route to the second-place finish, while the University of Scranton won the team title with 745 points. Host Misericordia University (352) took third, Ramapo College (302) placed fourth, Susquehanna University (222) finished fifth, and Juniata College (97) rounded out the six-team field.
To open the final day of competition, junior Daniil Salimov recorded a 10th-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:24.71. Ursinus then earned a pair of top-10 finishes in the 100-yard freestyle, as senior
David McCauley (48.94) placed eighth and first-year
Jack Campbell (49.84) took 10th.
Sophomore
Josh Travers paced the Bears in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing third with a time of 1:59.47. In the 200-yard breaststroke, senior
Francesco D'Avella claimed the event victory with a time of 2:10.98, while sophomore
Evan Wagner (2:22.03) placed 11th.
The Bears closed out the meet with a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the quartet of Travers, McCauley, D'Avella and junior
Jack Giuliana combined for a time of 3:13.18.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when they travel to York College for a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
