Friday's Results
LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus men's swimming team wrapped up the second day of competition at the Centennial Conference Championships on Friday, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.
Ursinus currently ranks seventh in the team standings behind 105 team points. No. 9 Johns Hopkins paces the pack with 343.5 team points, Gettysburg (234) ranks second, and Swarthmore sits in third with 224 points. Dickinson College (148), Franklin & Marshall (129), Washington College (111.5), and McDaniel College (76) round out the eight-team field.
The Bears opened Friday evening with first-year
Alexander Nicolai winning the B-Final of the 500-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 4:37.88. Nicolai's time now ranks fourth all-time in program history surpassing Marcus Wagner's mark of 4:39.04 in 2017.
Next, Ursinus earned a pair of top-times in the B-Final of the 200-yard IM. Sophomore
Josh Travers (1:55.41) placed fourth in the B-Final, while senior
Francesco D'Avella (1:55.91) took sixth. Travers and D'Avella each set new personal best times in the event and continue to climb in the program's record books. Travers now ranks second all-time, only trailing
Jonah Kasznay's mark of 1:54.55 in 2023, while D'Avella's time now ranks fifth all-time.
In the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Travers, D'Avella, junior
Jack Giuliana, and senior
David McCauley placed seventh with a time of 3:25.71 which ranks just shy of the school record of 3:24.45.
The Bears will return to action tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. as the prelims for the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke will take place.
