LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus men's swimming team turned in a strong performance on Day 3 of the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.
The Bears have totaled 167 team points and currently rank sixth in the team standings. Johns Hopkins leads with 653.5 points, while Swarthmore (473) is second and Gettysburg (449) sits in third. Dickinson (219) is fourth, followed by Franklin & Marshall (214) and Ursinus to round out the top six in the eight-team field.

Francesco D'Avella highlighted the meet by breaking his own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke to finish sixth overall. D'Avella lowered his previous mark of 57.03 with a time of 56.94 in the preliminary round before resetting the record in the finals at 56.76. Sophomore
Evan Wagner finished eighth in the B final and 16th overall with a time of 59.16, while his preliminary mark of 58.87 ranks seventh all time in program history.

Daniel Salimov placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the B final of the 400-yard individual medley. May posted a time of 4:27.33 to finish 14th overall, while Salimov clocked in at 4:27.63 to place 15th.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Giuliana recorded a time of 51.06 in the finals to finish 14th overall and sixth in the B final. First-year
Alexander Nicolai placed 15th overall and seventh in the B final of the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.92. The mark was a personal best and ranks 10th all time in school history.
Travers closed out the meet for Ursinus by placing third in the B final and 11th overall in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.29. The performance marked a personal best and ranks fifth all time in program history.
Ursinus returns to action Sunday morning at 8 a.m. with the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard freestyle relay scheduled.
