Shaneman, McKeen Impress at Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – A pair of Ursinus Men's Track & Field athletes competed at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational this weekend at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
 
 
Senior Chase Shaneman and sophomore Jayden McKeen represented the Bears at the meet to establish early marks with the outdoor track & field season starting up.
 
 
Both athletes competed in the javelin on Friday afternoon and the duo both recorded top-10 overall finishes while standing as the top two finishing Division III athletes in the event. Shaneman finished sixth with a throw of 56.67 meters and McKeen was right behind in seventh at 55.32 meters. McKeen had a breakout collegiate debut season in the javelin by earning silver at the Centennial Outdoor Championships and gaining All-American honors in the javelin at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Shaneman placed fourth in the javelin at the Centennial Outdoor Championship meet.
 
 
On Saturday, Shaneman finished seventh in the discus throw with his mark of 44.41 meters. The defending Centennial Conference discus champion finished second overall among Division III athletes in the event.
 
 
The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team will make its outdoor season debut on Friday, March 28th as they will compete in Widener's two-day Danny Curran Invitational that starts at 2:30 p.m.
