Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season at The Ruckus

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Ursinus College men's golf team returned to the links for their 2025 spring opener at The Ruckus over the weekend.
 

Five Bears competed at the Williamsburg National Golf Club, a par-72 course that stretches over 6,953-yards. Ursinus played two rounds, totaling a team score of 334 on Saturday, before finishing the tournament with a 318 on Sunday. The Bears placed 11th overall with a final score of 652, marking their lowest two-day score of the season.
 
 
Drew University won the team title with a two-day score of 580, while Bowdoin placed second with a final tally of 587. York College (588) ranked third, Hartford (591) placed fourth, and Bridgewater University (594) rounded out the top-five. 
 
 
Sophomore Trevor Maden led the Bears lineup, tying for 19th and totaling a two-round score of 152. During Saturday's round, Maden's day was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 seventh hole, followed by nine straight pars over the back nine to sign for a 77 (+5). On day two, Maden opened with a 40 (+4) on the front nine, then recorded four birdies over the final nine holes and signing for a 75 (+3).
 
 
Junior Jimmy Cage placed 48th overall, shooting an 84 in his first round, and an 80 on day two. Cage registered 11 pars in his first round, including four straight from holes five through eight. On Sunday, he collected birdies on the par-4 first and the par-3 eighth, enroute to a 39 (+3) on the front nine. He added three pars and a birdie over the remainder of his round to finish with an 80.
 
 
Junior Billy Breslin tied for 49th overall, recording a total score of 165 with rounds of 85 and 80. His first featured six straight pars from holes three through eight, followed by two birdies on the back nine. Breslin shot a two-over 38 on the front nine on Sunday. He recorded 11 pars throughout his round, including eight on his first nine holes.
 
 
First-year Aidan Bonczek placed 56th overall with a final score of 171. Bonczek had eight pars throughout the first day of competition, finishing with an 88. His Sunday round featured a birdie on the par-5 17th hole. Sophomore Brandon Mongan rounded out the five Bears' lineup, tying for 59th with a score of 175. Mongan tallied third birdies over the weekend, including two over his final nine holes on Sunday.
 

The Bears return to action on Friday, March 28th as they compete at the DeSales Spring Classic at the Olde Homestead Golf Course.
