CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team saw its first extended team action of the Outdoor season this weekend at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener.
Sophomore
Jayden McKeen delivered the current second best javelin throw in NCAA Division III on Saturday at 65.76 meters to win the event at the meet. An All-American last season, McKeen easily blitzed his previous best of 62.20 meters set at the same spot last April during a different Widener meet. Senior
Chase Shaneman placed third in both the javelin with his throw of 59.30 meters and in the discus held on Friday at 47.88 meters.
First-year
Mitchell Davis needed just one meet to top the previous Ursinus Outdoor Pole Vault record as he won the event at 4.85 meters. Davis, the Centennial Conference Indoor Pole Vault Champion, easily topped the previous outdoor mark set by Brody Myers of 4.61 meters in 2022 and now holds both school records.
Junior
James Sims III placed third in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.93 meters. First-year
Noah Sanders led four Bears in the hammer throw with his mark of 43.27 and finished 13th overall and Shaneman was right behind at 43.23 meters in 14th. Senior
Tom Wood paced the Bears in the shot put at 13.59 meters and sophomore
Carter Kensil tallied a mark of 13.16 meters.
The Bears return to action on Friday, April 4th as they will open the two-day Ursinus Track & Field Festival starting at 4:00 p.m. with the Hammer Throw.
