PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Sophomore
Erin Roe and senior
Madison Zimmerman of Ursinus Gymnastics were named Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regular Season All-Americans, announced by the organization on Monday.
Zimmerman was a first team selection on the beam while Roe garnered second team honors on the beam in the East Region. First Team All-America is awarded to the top (1) finisher, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four (4) events plus the all-around in the NCGA East plus Centenary and from the NCGA West. Second Team All-America is awarded to the second (2nd) place finisher, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four (4) events plus the all-around in each region. The restriction in the east to allow no more than one of the away meets to be out of the school's respective region does not apply. The awards were bases on all scores as of the Monday before the NCGA Championships.
Zimmerman became an All-American for the first time in her career after her best season to date at Ursinus. She had the highest NQS in the regular season on the beam at 9.760 for the East Region that earned her the award. Zimmerman was especially strong down the stretch for the Bears the beam by posting at least a 9.725 in every single meet in February and recorded a career best score of 9.825 at West Chester on February 8th which was the highest score by any Bear on the beam this season and tied for the third highest individual score in the east region.
Roe added to her trio of All-American honors that she earned at the NCGA Championship meet by adding her regular season Vault accolade. She had the second highest NQS in the East Region on the vault at a 9.730 behind posting at least a 9.7 in seven of the nine events she competed in. Roe earned All-American honors in three separate events: the All-Around, Vault, and Bars by finishing in the top eight in all three events at the NCGA Championship Meet on March 22nd. Roe tied for third overall on the vault at the NCGA Championship meet with a 9.750, tied for eighth on the bars with a career best score of 9.675, and sixth in the all-around on her total of 37.825.
The duo are the first Bears since
