CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team turned in a strong showing on the second day of the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University on Saturday.
Senior
Chase Shaneman won his second event of the weekend in the javelin by posting a career best throw of 59.54 meters. He now has the fourth longest javelin throw in the Centennial Conference and tallied personal bests in both the discus and javelin this weekend. The strong javelin unit by the Bears also saw top-10 finishes from senior
Eric Sugarman in eighth with a throw of 46.54 meters and sophomore
Liam Janschka in ninth on a throw of 45.92 meters. Junior
Markel Roberts-Jackson finished 15th in the event with a throw of 40.28 meters.
Sophomore
Carter Kensil recorded a career best throw in the hammer on Saturday as he finished sixth overall with his mark of 45.06 meters. First-year
Noah Sanders finished 12th with his throw of 42.25 meters and Shaneman plus senior
Tom Wood finished back-to-back with throws of 39.66 and 39.60 meters, respectively.
Senior
Devon Greaves led the Bears in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. He finished seventh on his time of 55.56 which was fourth among Division III athletes in the race. Greaves recorded a time of 15.94 and finished 12th in the 110 meters and first-year
Kyle Cummings finished 15th with a time of 58.21 in the 400 and 23rd in the 110 with a time of 17.21. Junior
Patrick Ryan was second among the Bears in the 110 meter hurdles with a 16.07 and placed 15th. Senior
Mason Jolivette paced the Bears in both the 200 and 400 meters with times of 22.77 and 51.68, respectively.
Junior
Liam Johnston finished 14th overall in the 1,500 meters after crossing the line at 3:59.54 and senior
Christian Rosado paced a host of Bears in the 800 meters with his time of 1:55.45 that placed him 23rd overall. First-year
Aidan Furtek had the top time for the Bears in the 3,000 steeplechase with his time of 10:31.62 which placed him 16th overall.
Junior
James Sims III cleared the high jump bar at 1.83 meters to finish 10th overall and junior
Sean Bowers finished in the same spot for the pole vault with his mark of 4.10 meters.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, April 22nd as they will compete in the Haverford Tri-Meet at 3:30 p.m.
