HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team competed in some midweek action on Tuesday at the Haverford Tri-Meet. The meet featured the Bears, host Fords, and Widener along with some select athletes from Swarthmore.
The Bears totaled nine event wins in the meet as they began their tune-up for the upcoming Penn Relays and Centennial Conference Championships.
Seven Bears competed in the 400 meters led by senior
David Kenny who won the race with a time of 51.94. Senior
Paul Faggioli was second on a 52.41 and classmate
Christian Rosado was third by crossing the line at 52.79. First-years Connor Flaherty and
Kyren Young were fourth and fifth on times of 53.11 and 54.50, respectively, while sophomore
Sean Geherty was sixth at 54.90 and first-year Tristan Lee-Edwards was seventh at 55.29. Junior
Eddie Weick finished second in the 110 hurdles at a 17.99 and fifth in the 100 meters at 11.97 while sophomore
Daniel Magallanes was fourth in the 200 meters at 24.52 and sixth in the 100 at 12.05.
Senior
Jack Fisher won the 800 meters with his time of 2:01.36 and junior
Justice Scheidel crossed the line in second at a 2:03.95. First-year Aiden Furtek was third at 2:07.81 and sophomore
Dom Nunez rounded out the Bears in fifth with a time of 2:14.92. Junior
Liam Johnston won the 1500 meters with a time of 4:00.76 and sophomore
Troy Hedrick earned a top-10 in sixth at a 4:08.37.
In throws, senior
Chase Shaneman led a field of 10 Bears in the discus with his mark of 48.35 meters and sophomore
Carter Kensil was second at 39.01 meters. First-year
Noah Sanders was third at 38.78 meters while sophomores
Michael Danter and
Liam Janschka rounded out the top-five with throws of 34.38 and 33.66 meters, respectively. Sanders won the hammer throw on a mark of 44.45 that paced seven Bears and senior
Tom Wood was second at 42.19 meters. Kensil was third on a mark of 41.26 meters, sophomore
Luke Skinner finished fourth at 37.25 meters, and Danter rounded out the top-five at 32.45 meters. Sophomore
Jayden McKeen took the javelin with ease at 58.67 meters and senior
Ethan Chambers was second on a career best throw of 50.22 meters. Sophomore
Riley Ford was third at 47.76 meters, Janschka was fourth at 45.27 meters, and senior
Eric Sugarman rounded out the top-five at 44.43 meters. Wood won the shot put easily with a throw of 15.34 meters and Kensil was second at 23.38 meters. Senior
Davonte Hinds was third after posting a throw of 11.17 meters and first-year
Nick Boyle finished fourth at 10.99 meters.
Juniors
James Sims III and
Cole Jackson competed in the high jump and Sims delivered a career best 1.98 meter mark that now tops the Centennial Conference. Jackson was second with a career best mark of his own at 1.80 meters. Jackson also led three Bears in the long jump in fourth overall at 6.09 meters.
The 4x400 relay team of Rosado, Faggioli, Kenny, and Johnston led the field with a time of 3:33.78.
The Bears return to action on Friday, April 25th as they will see select athletes compete in the 129th annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
